SINGAPORE, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.65 percent, or 20.83 points, to close at 3,212.25.

A total of 1.18 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.09 billion Singapore dollars (about 803.89 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 261 to 183.

The STI index went down 0.14 percent, or 4.45 points, to close at 3,191.42 Monday. Enditem
