BUENOS AIRES, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Adrian Martinez scored two second-half goals as Racing Club secured a 2-0 home win over Estudiantes Rio Cuarto in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Monday.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when Martinez timed his run to perfection to tap in from inside the six-yard box after Santiago Solari's cross from the left.
Martinez doubled the lead in stoppage time, beating the offside trap to slot a clinical finish into the bottom-left corner.
Estudiantes Rio Cuarto rarely threatened to score and failed to have a shot on target.
Racing is now sixth in Group B with 15 points, five behind leader Independiente Rivadavia while Estudiantes Rio Cuarto is last in the 15-team group with four points.
In other Argentine top flight fixtures on Monday, Defensa y Justicia won 5-2 at San Lorenzo, Aldosivi was held to a goalless home draw by Huracan and Barracas Central edged to a 2-1 home win over Atletico Tucuman. ■
