WASHINGTON, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's Wang Xindi claimed the men's title, while Australia's Danielle Scott won the women's event at the FIS Freestyle Skiing Aerials World Cup stop in Lake Placid on Sunday.
Wang scored 103.50 points in the men's final with a jump featuring a difficulty degree of 5.000. Ukraine's Yan Havriuk finished second on 94.12 points. China's Qi Guangpu also scored 94.12 points but placed third as the Ukrainian was superior in form.
"I'm so happy and very excited. Today, the weather was not good, and a lot of us chose safety today. Thanks to my team and wife for helping me get here," Wang said.
In the women's competition held on the same day, Scott took gold with 95.88 points. Wang's wife Xu Mengtao finished second on 94.01 points, while Kaila Kuhn of the United States claimed bronze with a score of 92.29.
"Today I just needed to go prove myself, and I did that, so I'm stoked," said the 35-year-old Scott.
Another aerials competition will be held in Lake Placid on January 12. ■
