BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.09 percent to 4,165.29 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.75 percent higher at 14,366.91 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 3.6 trillion yuan (about 513.7 billion U.S. dollars), up from 3.12 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks in Sora and AI corpus sectors led the gains, while those related to insurance as well as oil and gas extraction suffered major losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.82 percent to close at 3,388.34 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 2.88 percent higher at 1,855.38 points. ■
