HANOI, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed in a traffic accident involving a sleeper bus and a seven-seat car inside the Ngang Pass tunnel in central Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency reported Monday.

The crash occurred at around 11:50 p.m. on Sunday when the sleeper bus collided with the car traveling in the opposite direction in the tunnel connecting Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces.

The collision killed two passengers in the car and left both vehicles badly damaged.

Vietnam recorded 10,809 traffic accidents in the first seven months of this year, leaving 6,101 people dead and 7,205 others injured, according to the National Statistics Office. ■
